After obtaining his degrees in Japanese & French at the Hogeschool Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht and in International Business Communications at the Nijmegen Radboud University, Martijn started his career in international education and student travel as a sector association manager at the World Youth Student & Educational Travel Confederation (WYSETC), followed by 8.5 years as the Global Director of the UNESCO endorsed International Student Identity Card (ISIC) based in Amsterdam. He then moved to Tokyo where he lived and worked for four years as the Founder and Managing Director of ‘Student Card Service Japan’. Back in Amsterdam, Martijn joined ICEF in 2019 initially as Vice President of Business Development, where he initiated and oversees a number of strategic growth projects and initiatives covering business development areas such as Student&Youth travel, E-learning, Edtech, Digital Student Recruitment, International Student Insurance, Financing & Accommodation as well as Study Destination Marketing. In 2023 Martijn took on the role of Chief Business Development Officer. He is also the host of the monthly ICEF Podcast and ICEF Webinars and a frequent speaker on various topics related to International Education.
