James S. Moy, Ph.D., former dean of the College of The Arts at the University of South Florida, has returned to research and writing on the processes of indigenization and its impacts on western canonical art and literature. He currently serves as Professor of Theatre & Dance at USF.

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in art and a Master’s degree in theatre, Dean Moy earned his Ph.D. in cultural studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Prior to his tenure as provost and vice president, academic & research, at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Dr. Moy was dean and professor in the faculty of art at the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto and earlier served as dean and professor in the School of Creative Media of the City University of Hong Kong. He also served as dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, and chair professor in the Department of Theatre and Drama at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Moy has taught at the University of Texas at Austin, Northwestern University, and the University of Oregon.
