Dr Philip James
Philip graduated with a master’s degree in neuroscience from Kings College London and subsequently held a research post at the Max-Planck Institute for Psychiatry, Munich.
He then held strategic roles at Thomson Reutersadvising universities on research evaluation techniques used in bibliometric studies through academic publications and workshops in more than 20 countries. As a consultant, he has served on universities’ international advisory boards to guide them through implementation of internationalisation plans and has developed strategies related to rankings for many universities and governments.
In his role at UAE University, Philip leads all projects related to university rankings including international benchmarking, and international marketing. In parallel, he is an active researcher in the field of scientometrics at CWTS, Leiden University.
