Universidade Vila Velha (UVV) is a private university located in the southeast of Brazil, Espírito Santo. UVV is the best private University in Brazil, according to a combination of ratings from reaccreditation and the General Course Index, assessed in 2020 by the Brazilian Ministry of Education. UVV was one of the pioneers in the private higher education field in our State, having the first students enrolled in 1976 in the courses of Administration, Accounting and Law. In 1998, a process of institutional expansion culminated in creating new courses, previously not offered in Espírito Santo, such as Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy, expanding the Institution’s activities in the areas of Health and the Earth. This process was expanded by establishing new health courses, such as Pharmacy, in 2001, catching up with the transformation, this same year, of a Higher Academic Center into a University Center. In updating its Institutional Development Plan (PDI) of 2005, the UVV traced the transformation into University as a goal. To that end, institutional research and extension policies were strengthened and invested in the qualification of its professors and in the hiring of doctors who could support the creation of stricto sensu graduate programs. As a result, its recognition as a University came in 2011.
